Nicolas Ghesquière’s Fall Winter 2025-2026 collection for Louis Vuitton transformed a disused railway office building into a cinematic train station, drawing inspiration from travel, film, and personal memories.
The collection explored the diverse experiences associated with train stations, from emotional farewells to everyday commutes and luxurious voyages. Ghesquière aimed to create relatable stories, reflecting the varied lives of individuals encountered in transit and on screen.
The designer referenced a wide range of films, including “Brief Encounters,” “2046,” “That Obscure Object of Desire,” “Snowpiercer,” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” incorporating cinematic elements into the garments and presentation.
The show’s venue, a courtyard adjacent to Gare du Nord, was transformed into a sleek waiting room, reminiscent of a Thomas Demand artwork. Monitors displayed images of hurried travelers, enhancing the immersive atmosphere.
Kraftwerk’s “Trans Europe Express” played before the show, foreshadowing a collaboration with the electronic band. The collection included a capsule of clothing and leather goods featuring Kraftwerk album art.
The 60-look collection presented an eclectic mix of styles, including technical outerwear, ruched velvet skirts, cargo shorts, New Wave sweaters, and ruffled skirts. Fluid silhouettes, such as translucent trench coats, floral slip dresses, and draped gowns, stood out. Buffalo plaid blankets were repurposed as dresses and tops.
Models carried various accessories, including blankets, hat boxes, violin trunks, and vanity cases. The collection also featured re-editions of silk squares by artists Sol Lewitt, Andrée Putman, César Baldaccini, Richard Peduzzi, and Jean-Pierre Raynaud.
A re-edition of Vuitton’s first watch with a ceramic bezel, designed by Gae Aulenti, was also presented. The collection captured the essence of travel and cinematic storytelling, blending diverse styles and influences into a cohesive narrative.
